The OVC Transfer Portal Recap: Part 10, UTM Skyhawks
I procrastinated too much. But we continue.
Welcome to the 10th episode of the OVC transfer portal recap. UT Martin Skyhawks. You know how this works.
Sources are Goodman’s transfer portal list, verbalcommits, and UTMs official Twitter and Website. For stats, its MaxPreps for Freshmen and the school’s website for Transfers unless otherwise noted.
Let’s get into this!
KJ Simon graduated. I don’t know why this is called the transfer portal recap tbh, it’s just moves. But 14 points a game, that’s a big loss for them.
Josh Endicott averaged 3 and 3 a game. He’s graduating too!
Chris Nix is leaving the Fun True Valley to go to the Fun Belt and be a Texas State Bobcat. Leaving fun for other fun. It is a “better” conference according to stats nerds, so I can’t blame him after averaging 7 and 6 as a Skyhawk.
Grant Hurst redshirted the entire 2022-23 season and got 20 total points in 21-22. This led to him transferring to be a walk-on at Tennessee-Knoxville. Idk if this meant he dropped out? idk. im dumb. if you know how you transfer to be a walk-on lmk.
Dylan Pumpian played 20 minutes the whole year and is transferring to D3 Oglethorpe, whose nickname is the Stormy Petrels. That nickname is sick.
Josiah Morris did not appear to play last year, and he appears excited on his twitter to play for the Pioneers of D2 Tusculum next year.
Rifen Miguel is graduating now, who I only know from getting punched for no reason by DeeJuan Pruitt in Evansville last year.
Parker Stewart is also graduating in his comeback season in memory of his late father. It was a good season, now I wish him great things in life. (I wish great things in life for all other graduating players, too.)
THE ADDS
Who the Skyhawks getting?
Issa Muhammad is transferring from NMSU, after, y’know, NMSU happened. We all know what happened. Averaged 9 and 5 in his limited time in NMSU before the shutdown, including a 20-burger in the opener.
Justus Jackson played meh basketball at Hawai’i, and now is a Skyhawk!
Braylon Jackson averaged 15 a game in HS, and is gonna be a true freshman at UTM.
Kenny White is going to his 3rd OVC school. He spend 2 years at TTU, 2 at Murray (including one before they moved to the MVC of course), and now is going to UTM! 7 a game for the Racers last year, and led them in blocks.
Christian Fussell played bad basketball for MTSU. That might translate into good OVC basketball! We’ll find out.
Sebastian Mendoza led his small college, San Bernardino Valley, to an undefeated conference season while averaging 15 points a game.
Yassin Hussein is very good at blocking shots. That’s fun as hell to watch tbh.
Jacob Crews is a 20 point per game NJCAA player.
I’ve rushed the last half of this post. I needa go to bed. Peace!
